Cover artist and illustrator Philippa Murphy presents a Halloween-themed collection of paintings (Instagram : philippamurphyart)
Anyone who knows me knows how much I love Halloween – the vast majority of my sketchbooks are filled with various paintings of pumpkins, ghosts, and skeletons, probably dating back at least as far as 2005. I’ve been painting for almost my entire life with my grandad, but only decided during the first lockdown to start sharing it with other people on Instagram.
By sharing my paintings on Instagram, I discovered that there are phases in my ‘creative process’, and Halloween is definitely a very specific and rather prolific phrase! This is ultimately what what having some creative freedom with this issue’s cover so fun, although it ended up combining a mixture of traditional Halloween elements as I couldn’t decided which ones to draw most attention to.
Below are a series of Halloween-themed paintings to mark the celebration and spread the festive October spirit!
